GetTouchEvents has plenty of side effects such as moving the pointer or updating the master device, which we don't want to happen when replaying. The only reason for calling it was to generate a DCCE event, but GetTouchEvents doesn't even do that right (we might need a DCCE event even when replaying a master event, or clients could interpret valuator data incorrectly). This discussion is moot at the moment anyway, since DeliverTouchEvents doesn't appear to deliver DCCE events. X Server
The X server accepts requests from client applications to create windows,
which are (normally rectangular) "virtual screens" that the client program
can draw into.
Windows are then composed on the actual screen by the X server
(or by a separate composite manager) as directed by the window manager,
which usually communicates with the user via graphical controls such as buttons
and draggable titlebars and borders.
